Richard J. Gannon II grew up in Escondido, California before attending Cornell University. In addition to his active membership in the Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity, Rick was a model Marine Option Midshipman at the university’s NROTC unit. Shortly after graduating with honors a semester early from Cornell with two degrees, Rick married Sally Wilkins and received his Marine Corps commission.
